Certain Uncertainties

Twice I have been asked to do my best rendition of this popular painting “Certain Uncertainties” by artist Christian Vincent.  The original painting is 90 x 60 and can be seen, if only briefly and not in full, in the movie “The Thomas Crown Affair” with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.  As the two are making love on the marble stairway in Thomas Crown’s home, the camera pans over this large, magnificent painting of this woman in light, hanging on in the wind of the bow of a boat in rough seas.

The original painting can only be seen briefly in this movie and nowhere else.  There are no prints or even post cards of the painting anywhere.  The small and foggy reference that I had to use as a reference left a lot to be desired, but I am proud of the result.  I added her knee to the left side of the painting as well, as her knee is cut off in the original painting.  My painting is 45 x 30, Oil on hand stretched Canvas.
